Progress Squads

Progress Surf Academy runs drastically reduced rate squad sessions for Swansea school children.Some of our squad members come along simply to enjoy surfing in a fun and friendly setting. Other members of our squads are young aspiring surfers, who really want to get somewhere in the sport.

Progress Surf Academy is committed to helping juniors Progress through the initial stages of learning to surf and onto a level hardly seen in juniors here on Gower.

Our squad sessions offer fun and friendly coaching to all with a desire to improve and be the best they can be in the water. Sessions run after school during term time. We also offer half term crash courses and a summer holiday surf club.

Times of squad sessions are tailored to suit the school time table.

Fun/Friendly contest held at Caswell 5th June 2007

Progress Surfer, Rosie Fletcher won the under 14's girls event

Progress Hosted a youth competition in association with Gower Bays surf club at Caswell beach. The event took place at Caswell beach after school on Tuesday 5th June 2007 and was a great success.
The waves were small at Caswell but the kids didn't seem to be bothered. The main focus of the event was to have fun and to let the kids experience what surfing competition is like.
Progress Surfing are hoping to team up with the Gower bays surf club more often in the future and two more contests of this kind are planned for the Autumn.

We would like to thank all that attended and a big thankyou to the Gower bays surf club for helping to make it all happen.

During these sessions we can help get you ready for competition (or just have fun) and hopfully produce new talent to follow in the footsteps of an already very successful Welsh youth surfing development, who are already winning big at major events.

Gower Bays surf club

Progress Surf Academy has teamed up with Gower Bays Surf Club. We are now aiming to bring our squads up to a level where they are ready for competion.
In order to compete in local and national competitions every competitor needs to be a member of a registered surf club.
Gower bays provide competitions, access to surf trips, social events and most importantly PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE whilst surfing anywhere in the world!

You need insurance!

Insurance is somthing that every surfer needs. If you surf without
insurance and you injure another person in the water you are liable
and may have to pay out a lot of money in damages if they made a claim
against you.


You can get insured through the BSA for £18 ponds per year. Alternatively
you can get insured through a surf club such as the Gower Bays surf club.
They will in turn have you insured through the BSA for only £12.
Doing it this way you will also be able to attend all Gower bays events
and will be able to compete in all competitions.

Travel insurance

Insurance for surf travel


For years people who surf have been unable to obtain adequate
travel insurance to cover their equipment and liability whilst
surfing abroad.

In conjunction with the British Surfing Association, we at
Blythin and Brown Insurance Brokers have developed an Annual
Travel Policy that caters for the needs of the surfing community.

Benefits of the policy include:-

* Cover for Surfboards for Theft and Damage in Transit

* Cover for competing in Amateur Competitions

* Liability Cover whilst surfing abroad

* Premiums from £55.00 per annum

Extensions Available:-

* Trips up to 93 Days Duration can be catered for (subject to an increased premium)
